It was one of the last times in his political career that Allen would take the microphone.
Soon, his political career would be at an end, but the 93-year-old Texas Republican who lost a U.S. Senate race to Democrat Doug Jones in December was in a good mood as he walked onto the stage.
“I’ll be 93 next year, and I’ve been working on my speech for 10 years,” Allen joked. “It’s based on what I did in 1954. I did it at the state Democratic convention. I wasn’t doing it on purpose.”
Allen’s speech — titled “The Things We Did” — was a reflection of his state, “the most democratic of them all.”
Find position of a specific input in the DOM
I have a select input (included in a form) which has an autocomplete feature.
I have a separate function which, when you select an item in the autocomplete, will do some other things with that specific item.
What I need to know is, if that item exists as a text input somewhere in the DOM, where is it? Is there a way to find that input and attach some kind of id to it?
I’m trying to do this without having the DOM changed, so I don’t want to have to change the id of the input.

Just post the value of the input that you want to find back to the server, and have the server respond with a query to get that input, if it exists.
