Equipped with the right applications, a computer can be of great help in virtually any domain of activity. When it comes to designing and precision, no other tool is as accurate as a computer. Moreover, specialized applications such as AutoCAD give you the possibility to design nearly anything ranging from art, to complex mechanical parts or even buildings.
Suitable for business environments and experienced users
After a decent amount of time spent installing the application on your system, you are ready to fire it up. Thanks to the office suite like interface, all of its features are cleverly organized in categories. At a first look, it looks easy enough to use, but the abundance of features it comes equipped with leaves room for second thoughts.
Create 2D and 3D objects
You can make use of basic geometrical shapes to define your objects, as well as draw custom ones. Needless to say that you can take advantage of a multitude of tools that aim to enhance precision. A grid can be enabled so that you can easily snap elements, as well as adding anchor points to fully customize shapes.
With a little imagination and patience on your behalf, nearly anything can be achieved. Available tools allow you to create 3D objects from scratch and have them fully enhanced with high-quality textures. A powerful navigation pane is put at your disposal so that you can carefully position the camera to get a clearer view of the area of interest.
Various export possibilities
Similar to a modern web browser, each project is displayed in its own tab. This comes in handy, especially for comparison views. Moreover, layouts and layers also play important roles, as it makes objects handling a little easier.
Sine the application is not the easiest to carry around, requiring a slightly sophisticated machine to properly run, there are several export options put at your disposal so that the projects itself can be moved around.
Aside from the application specific format, you can save as an image file of multiple types, PDF, FBX and a few more. Additionally, it can be sent via email, directly printed out on a sheet of paper, or even sent to a 3D printing service, if available.
To end with
All in all, AutoCAD remains one of the top applications used by professionals to achieve great precision with projects of nearly any type. It encourages usage with incredible offers for student licenses so you get acquainted with its abundance of features early on. A lot can be said about what it can and can't do, but the true surprise lies in discovering it step-by-step.
Autodesk, Inc. is committed to improving the sustainability of the design industry by increasing the positive environmental, economic, and social effects of design, and by reducing the negative effects of design.
When a planet, moon, or other astronomical body such as a star or nebula reflects enough sunlight back to Earth, it is called an Earth-shine object. The sun’s reflection on Earth called “Earthshine” can be seen when looking at dark areas on the moon or planets, such as the far side. As a result, Earth’s atmospheric glow has been called “lunar glow” and “planetary glow”.
In 1982 Autodesk began as a division of the newly formed software company, Reliance Software, a tiny startup that produced an AutoCAD clone called Pinpoint. Drawing on their new position as suppliers of a successful AutoCAD clone, a bunch of the programmers joined Reliance and a couple of others left to start Autodesk.
In 1986, Autodesk was purchased by a group of investors led by the former president of the software division of Hewlett-Packard, Michael Dell. Dell later became a major investor in Autodesk.
Since then, Autodesk has expanded rapidly and purchased many other software and hardware companies, including: Lantana Software, Inc., Mayyasoft, Inc., Applied Engineering Associates, Inc., Dassault Systemes, Inc., Accenture Interactive, M+W Technologies, Inc., Alias Wavefront, Inc., eDrawings Corporation, among many others.
In 2007, Autodesk created a cloud computing service called AutoCAD 360 Cloud Services. AutoCAD 360 Cloud Services is a cloud computing service for AutoCAD that allows users to easily view, manipulate, and annotate files stored in a central server. It also provides a cloud storage service that enables users to safely store, manage, and access files stored on their workstation or mobile device. The service offers cloud computing and file sharing features and uses Autodesk’s own patented cloud computing technology called Stream Technologies.
In the summer of 2007, Autodesk acquired Alias Wavefront, Inc. and Ai Design Software, Inc. In 2011, Autodesk acquired Maya, a 3D rendering software application for film and video production, from Alias Wavefront.
In 2012, Autodesk unveiled a new version of Auto

In 2005, Autodesk released the first desktop application of the New Product Experience (NPE).
On May 1, 2010, Autodesk released the new AutoCAD 2009 User Interface (UI) into a beta-release version, the AutoCAD 2009 User Interface (UI).
In May 2012, Autodesk announced the release of Autodesk Revit 2012 for free along with plans for AutoCAD 2012, a product released in September 2012 that includes the addition of new features and enhancements.
Autodesk Revit 2014 was released on October 14, 2013 and Autodesk Revit 2015 was released on April 29, 2014.
Autodesk Revit Architecture released in 2019 is also a project-based BIM application.
Many popular CAD software products support AutoCAD’s DXF format as the foundation for geometry and interoperability.
Beyond its CAD functionality, AutoCAD can also be used for plant modeling, civil engineering and mechanical engineering, with the latter being the basis for the product AutoCAD MEP, licensed by Autodesk from Autodesk AECOM MEP Corp. AutoCAD MEP is a central design module that allows the management of all facets of a MEP project from architectural engineering through procurement to fabrication and construction. The module includes a configurable project workflow for managing the design, manufacturing and construction phases of a project.
In early 2015, Autodesk announced it had acquired 3DS, an autonomous vehicle startup that is building a driverless car using a modified Tesla Model S. This marked the company’s first step in developing its Autonomous Vehicle (AV) strategy. On May 2, 2015, Autodesk acquired Control Engineering Services (CES) for an undisclosed sum. In 2016 Autodesk acquired Ceres Power. In 2016 Autodesk acquired Redlock, a professional service-oriented software company. In June 2018, Autodesk acquired ShapeGroup a visual and data analytics company. Autodesk closed the ShapeGroup acquisition on December 1, 2018. In April 2019, Autodesk acquired UGNB, a provider of intelligent edge gateway for the construction industry.
Autodesk has also made several acquisitions in the manufacturing engineering software market, including Microzone, Renaissance Engineering and Thinkmill.

the film. From the
marshmallow scene to the X-men running through the walls scene it was all
just absolutely wonderful.
As well as the fantastic performances and direction of the film itself
there were a number of individual performances that really stuck out and
thoroughly deserved to be seen by the home viewer. As a stand out for me
Simon Pegg really outdid himself. His performance as Scotty was hilariously
inappropriate. His first appearance in the film is the scene where the
Professor explains how the invisibility ray works, and the ‘displacement’
of the characters is shown in a completely hilarious manner.
One scene, involving Simon Pegg, in particular, came across as brilliant,
as well as funny. A brief aside here, and I’ll come back to it later.
After the recent Spider-man 2 trailer and leaked scene, a certain Mr
Pegg (yes I know, I’ve been spamming his name like a spoilt girl) was
included in a scene. This scene was played so well it was brilliantly
funny. In the scene the Professor and Scotty are discussing the power of
the invisibility ray, and the Professor explains how they must somehow
‘repel’ the matter of the other ship, to keep Scotty invisible. The
Professor then picks up a piece of paper and tries to explain to Scotty
how to stop the ship turning and why the other ship is now looking at
them. As he turns away from Scotty he accidentally ends up facing Scotty.
As he does this Scotty transforms into an adult version of himself, and
Scotty and the Professor argue over why this is. As their argument continues
the Professor becomes invisible, and Scotty runs away in fright.
This scene is absolutely brilliant. The fact that it was so well acted
and was so funny made it hilarious, and made the
The multipurpose envelope tool can now be turned on or off by the user when drawing paths or shapes, such as a complex spline path. This enables users to easily turn off multipurpose envelopes when using one or two multipurpose envelopes, but have multipurpose envelopes turned on for multiple paths or shapes.
Inserting a title into a path is now possible. (video: 3:38 min.)
A simplified timeline that is easier to read.
In the 2020 edition, the AutoCAD timeline was oriented vertically. This caused many users to read vertically down the timeline and horizontal across the screen. In 2023, the timeline is moved to the bottom of the screen, allowing the user to read horizontally across the timeline. The vertical orientation also makes the timeline appear more compact, taking up less space on the screen.

The graphic style feature of an icon in the attributes inspector can now be set to “Basic” to ensure compatibility with other software programs.
Projects can now be saved to the cloud using a browser with an Internet connection.
The Drafting History color-coding has been expanded. Now it includes groups for both Project and Drawing options.
The ability to add comments to the drawing’s TOC has been added.
When you create a new drawing, the new drawing now has the option to include all commands and add markup in the same command as before.
The Place dialog now has an option to “Open a file using current setting”. This allows users to open a file directly using the same options used to open the file.
You can now select a large range of icons in the icons search dialog.
When you select the text tool, a tab is now automatically displayed in the Tools toolbar.
You can now click a point on a drawing and move the drawing on the screen using the mouse.
When you create a layout on the side of a drawing or insert the same layout in multiple drawings, it now displays the list of applications that are allowed to use it.
“Rename…” no longer uses the “Delete…” command.
The parameters that control the color of a hatch in edit mode have been added.
You can now hold Shift while right-
