History

REViVE Hope for Health is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to helping people find new ways to get better and live well. It emerged in 2020 from the Brian Phelps Memorial Foundation, founded in November 2017 and formally organized with an elected board in November 2018.

The original mission of the Brian Phelps Memorial Foundation was to promote an integrated healthcare model, that inspired and facilitated collaboration among all healthcare professionals, by supporting, empowering and educating individuals, medical practitioners, and others about integrated approaches to healthcare.

After a strategic visioning meeting in October 2019, the initial focus became to share success stories from individuals who had used alternative or complementary medicine approaches to overcome significant health challenges. A few months later, this initiative was put on temporary hold to undertake renaming and branding resulting in a name change to REViVE Hope for Health and and new vision and mission (see above).

With the intention of offering resources for more information, in addition to personal stories, we undertook a thorough process to explore the underlying perspective differences between each of the primary systems of medicine and how their unique perspectives inform their specific approaches to treatment. The result of this project is the REViVE Medicine Spectrum.

We then realized there was a need, and an opportunity, to develop guiding principles and tools that could empower individuals to utilize the REViVE Medicine Spectrum to become more personally response-able to make more informed choices for their own health and well-being. Originally conceived as a small booklet, the possibilities we saw continued to expand, resulting in the 80-page REViVE Hope for Health Personal Guidebook.

The publication of the Guidebook was just the beginning. Our next immediate focus is on making this Guidebook findable and accessible to those who are searching for alternative or complementary health care options, for themselves or a loved one (or even a patient), beyond the treatment approach(es) or outcome(s) being offered. If you are inspired, please spread the word about the Guidebook to your friends, your family, and your favorite sources of health related information or your favorite podcasts.

To complement the Guidebook, we are considering different ways to have conversations and share stories that offer real examples of how we can be more response-able for our own health. If you are inspired, please contact us and share your own story, and encourage others to do the same

To expand on this work, we believe the mind can play a substantial and critical role in causing dis-ease that leads to disease. In a manner similar to the exploration that led us to uncover the REViVE Medicine Spectrum, our Phase 2 will be to explore what research has been done and what is known about the impact of the mind — especially the subconscious mind — on physical health, healing and recovery. Although we are not certain where this exploration will lead us, we see potential to co-operate on a mind-related health research project. If you are inspired, please contact us and share your interest.
